Georgia Liapi

Georgia D. Liapi is a Biomedical Engineering PhD Candidate at the eHealth Laboratory of the Cyprus University of Technology, supervised by the Assis. Prof. Efthyvoulos Kyriacou. She holds an MSc in Systems Biology from Maastricht University (The Netherlands), with a focus on Deep Learning for Ovarian Cancer histological type and molecular subtype classification in W&E images, based on supervised training. She holds a BSc in Chemistry from the University of Patras (Greece), where she developed skills in traditional Western Blotting, and Immunofluorescence Microscopy, studying the role of a cell transmembrane receptor and a cell cytoskeleton remodelling-related protein in the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition, in Breast Cancer cells. She is currently working on the analysis of Carotid Ultrasound Videos to detect high-risk atherosclerotic plaques, to assess the risk of Stroke.
 
Georgia will be collaborating with the team at the Behavioral Science in Health Lab of the Cyprus University of Technology, for the purposes of the DESIPOC Project.
