We are pleased to welcome Pania Kalou to the Behavioral Science in Health (BSiH) Lab as our newest intern, where she will be contributing to the DESIPOC project.
Pania is currently completing her Master of Science in Health Psychology at Northumbria University. Her thesis explores young women’s interpretation and engagement with digital cervical screening information in England using a mixed-methods design. Her broader research interests lie in health communication, digital health interventions, and understanding how individuals engage with health information in online environments.
Pania holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology (Clinical Pathway). Her dissertation examined how cognition, emotion, and social content are prioritised and processed under varying levels of cognitive load, with a particular focus on affective working memory and emotional valence.
Alongside her studies, Pania has worked as a Research Assistant at Northumbria University, contributing to multiple research projects investigating body dysmorphia, hoarding disorder, eating disorders, anxiety disorders, and online communities in sport. In addition to her research experience, she currently works as a SEND Teaching Assistant, supporting children’s learning, wellbeing, and inclusion.
At BSiH Lab, Pania will support the DESIPOC project, bringing her strong interest in applying psychological science to real-world health challenges, and contributing to the development of the digital platform.
We are delighted to welcome Pania to the team and look forward to her contributions.
