Preconception Profiling Assessment and Risk factor Evaluation of/for LIFEstyle (PREPARE FOR LIFE)
Description
PrePARE for LIFE is a cohort study that will longitudinally assess health exposures and outcomes in a population of individuals of reproductive age that fall within the Potential Preconception perspective.
The baseline study, which will run over a period of 2 years aims to:
(a) Assess a wide variety of lifestyle habits and health behaviours and intentions in a group of individuals that fall in the Potential Preconception perspective and thus describe the health profile of an under-researched but important population group
(b) Evaluate the interlinked effects and potential interrelations of the various health behaviours and their underlying psychological variables (e.g. motivation and self-efficacy) and the way they currently affect health outcomes
(c) Explore barriers and facilitators to optimizing health and health behaviours before conception
(d) Create a data bank consisting of (a) self-reported information across a wide range of exposures and health related behaviours, (b) body measurements and (c) biological specimens (in collaboration with CY Biobank) that will form the basis of the longitudinal study and will assess over time the role of various factors in the development of chronic diseases (or risk factors for chronic disease) in the study participants and potentially their offsprings.
