In July 2026, BSiH Lab Director Dr Angelos Kassianos contributed to a series of focus groups organised in collaboration with the Commissioner for the Protection of Children’s Rights to explore how children use social media and how proposed legislation, expected to be presented for parliamentary vote in December, may influence their experiences through potential access restrictions.
The discussions brought together a diverse range of stakeholders and highlighted the importance of ensuring that academic research informs public policy. By integrating research evidence into policy development, it is possible to support decisions that are grounded in evidence while reflecting the lived experiences and perspectives of children.
The focus groups were guided by the Child Rights Impact Assessment (CRIA) methodology, which places children’s rights at the centre of policy evaluation and helps assess the potential implications of legislative proposals from a child rights perspective.
BSiH Lab was pleased to contribute to this important initiative alongside Dr Evita Katsimicha (University of Limassol) and Dr Miltos Hadjiosif (University of the West of England), reinforcing the Lab’s commitment to translating behavioural science research into evidence-informed policy and practice.
