Psycho-oncology dissemination events during February 2025

14th February 2025

The World Cancer Day 2025’s campaign “United by Unique” is about placing people at the centre of cancer care. The BSiH Lab would not be able to refrain from these efforts and advocate for person-centredness in oncology care, interdiciplinarity so that the psychological, social and behavioral aspects of cancer are not oversighted and placing emphasis on populations such as vulnerable groups and caregivers.

On the 01st of February Lab Director Dr Angelos Kassianos was an invited speaker at the 2nd Conference for People with Cancer Experience ‘STRONGER TOGETHER’ organised by the Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends (PASYKAF) on the topic of caring for caregivers and the importance of planning and enhancing quality of life.

It was an excellent conference that highlighted important issues that concern all of us, the state, health professionals, the educational system, the health system, researchers, informal caregivers and people with cancer experience.

A highlight of the event was great listening to the human stories of people who experienced cancer, whether they themselves or their loved ones.

On the 06th of February, Lab Director Dr Angelos Kassianos was an invited speaker during the first day of the 01st Cyprus Oncology Conference organised by the Cyprus Oncology Society. Dr Kassianos spoke about the contribution of behavioral sciences to prevention, early diagnosis and care. He presented research programs that we are running at the Behavioral Science in Health -BSiH Lab and the Department of Nursing of the Cyprus University of Technology in collaboration with organizations from Cyprus and abroad, including theb Desipoc project.
