After his PhD, he worked in the UK as a Research Assistant at the University of Southampton (2013), and as a Research Design Service (RDS) Consultant at Imperial College London (2013). He then worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher with Prof. Fiona Walter at the University of Cambridge (2013-2014), where he coordinated a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) programme developing an online tool to support the early diagnosis of skin cancer. From 2015 to 2022 he worked at UCL with Dr Jessica Sheringham, being promoted to Senior Research Fellow in 2019. At UCL he coordinated the development of eCREST, an online tool funded by the NIHR’s Policy Research Unit (PRU) in Cancer Awareness, Screening and Early Diagnosis, which aims to prevent cognitive errors that contribute to delays in diagnosing serious diseases such as cancer. In 2015 he won a Fulbright Visiting Research Scholarship and spent three months at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute and Harvard Medical School, USA studying patients’ priorities in palliative care. From 2019 to 2022 he collaborated with the University of Cyprus, securing funding from the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF), the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and a Marie Sklodowska-Curie postdoctoral fellowship (2019-2021).

His research applies behavioural science in health and public health using mixed methods (quantitative, qualitative, and meta-analytic). He focused on developing and evaluating innovative, technology-based interventions, and on understanding the determinants of health behaviours such as vaccination, breastfeeding, physical activity, smoking, medication adherence as well as psycho-oncology. He also investigates how clinical reasoning skills can be taught through interactive online patient simulations.

He leads several European projects. Among others, he is Principal Investigator of Co-OPERATOR (2023-2026), an EU4Health project developing a country observatory for sharing best practices in vaccination promotion across Europe, and DESIPOC (2024-2027), an EU4Health project aiming to improve the delivery of psychosocial oncology care in Europe. He is also the Scientific Coordinator of RELIEF (2025–2028), an EU4Health project that aims to reduce the use of e-cigarettes and other emerging tobacco products among children aged 6–12 through research with children, parents and teachers, a digital intervention toolkit and policy guidance. He contributes to several COST Actions, including as a Management Committee member of INE-CSC (CA21152; 2022–2026) and EVBRES (CA17117; 2018–2023), and as a Working Group member of Medi-CaSE (CA23151; 2024–2027).

He has extensive teaching experience and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) of the UK. Before joining CUT, he taught as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Surrey (2009-2013), and University of Chichester (2013) and as a Visiting Teaching Specialist in the Departments of Medicine and Psychology at the University of Cyprus (2013 and 2014), at CUT (2017-2019), and at Frederick University (2018). He has been a Visiting Professor at the University of Turin (2017), Riga Stradiņš University (2023), the University of Cagliari (2024) and Universitas Airlangga (2025). He supervises undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students.

His work has been recognised with several awards. In 2017, he was seletced as one of Europe’s top young innovators for the Young Transatlantic Innovation Leadership Initiative (YTILI) Fellowship of the US Department of State. This included training in Washington DC and a two-week placement at the Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation in Phoenix, Arizona. He received the European Health Psychology Society (EHPS) Early Career Award in 2018 and the Cyprus Research and Innovation Foundation’s Early Career Researcher Award in the Social Sciences and Humanities in 2020. In 2016 he was invited to speak at a Public Hearing at the European Parliament on m-health. 

He serves on several committees. He has been the National Delegate of Cyprus for the EHPS since 2015 and served on its Executive Committee as Grants Officer and Special Interests Groups (SIG) Liaison (2022-2026). In 2026 he chaired the 40th Annual Conference of the EHPS, held in Paphos, Cyprus, bringing Europe’s leading health psychology conference to Cyprus. He represented the Cyprus Psychologists’ Association on the Prevention and Intervention Board (2017-2022) and the Standing Committee on Psychology in Health (2022-2025) of the European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations (EFPA), has been an active member of the EORTC Quality of Life Group since 2018, and has been a Board Member of the Cyprus Psychologists’ Association since 2023. Between 2019 and 2021 he was an appointed Committee Member of the Parallel Parliament’s Committees of Civil Society and of Environment, Ecology and Health and Vice Chair of the Committee of Public Health. Since 2026 he has been an appointed member of the Monitoring Committee for the Cyprus National Strategy for Mental Health having previously served on its National Commission (2023-2024).

He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented widely at scientific conferences including numerous invited talks and workshops/seminars. He was an Associate Editor of Quality of Life Research (2019-2025) and has been an Associate Editor of the British Journal of Health Psychology since 2024. He serves as an expert evaluator for funding bodies including the European Health and Digital Executive Agency (HADEA), the European Innovation Council (EIC), Erasmus+,  the Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation, the Slovak Research and Development Agency, the Latvian Council of Science, and the Research Council of Lithuania.  He has also acted as consultant to organisations including the Cyprus Commissioner for the Protection of Children’s Rights, the Cyprus National Addictions Authorities and the Pompidou Group of the Council of Europe.
