Dr Danae Papageorgiou
Dr Danae Papageorgiou is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology (BSc) and a masters in Developmental Psychology and Clinical Practice (MSc) from University College London (UCL). Following her return to Cyprus, she completed her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Cyprus. Her research focused on using values interventions to improve the use of exposure therapy in individuals with specific phobias and other anxiety disorders. During her training in London and Nicosia, she worked both in outpatient and inpatient settings (e.g., Islington CAMHS, Tavistock and Portman NHS, Ithaki, BOCOC, KEPSY), providing therapy and conducting assessments. Moreover, she worked as a research assistant for large scale projects, including the Tavistock Adult Depression Study (TADS) and the Algea project. She supervised students undertaking their dissertations and research experience seminars. Post qualification, she worked on the PRICE project as a researcher, collecting data in coordination with doctors and nurses through the use of questionnaires, a mobile program employing virtual reality interventions and a Delphi study. She also supported the everyday running of the project and helped with the troubleshooting of the technological equipment employed. Currently, Dr Papageorgiou works in private practice as a Clinical Psychologist specialising in the treatment of anxiety and related disorders. She offers individual and group therapy, psychoeducational and diagnostic assessments, and supervises graduate students for their clinical practicum. She teaches on the Clinical Psychology Doctorate at the University of Cyprus and on the Masters in Clinical Psychology at the European University Cyprus. Her research work focuses on improving the treatment of anxiety disorders using innovative approaches and technological advancements, publishing a number of papers within the field.
