Community event in Mitsero: the invisible work of care
On 15 March, Dr Angelos Kassianos was invited by a community group in Cyprus (EAS Mitserou) to speak at a community event in the rural village of Mitsero on the invinsible work of carers. The talk explored what would happen if, from one day to the next, there was no one to care for older parents, people with chronic illness or children who need daily support, highlighting the crucial but often invisible contribution of informal caregivers. Drawing on evidence that women perform around 75% of unpaid care work globally, the discussion focused on the health impact of unpaid care, gender inequalities and why recognising and supporting this care is essential for social justice.

Discussing youth vaping and the RELIEF project on RIK radio
Later in March, Dr Kassianos joined the RIK radio show «Ώρα του Εθνοφρουρού», hosted by Doxa Komodromou, to discuss the EU4Health RELIEF project and the rising use of e‑cigarettes and vaping among young people in Cyprus. The interview addressed misconceptions about vaping, emerging evidence on health risks and the need for school‑based prevention, family engagement and evidence‑based regulation. RELIEF’s work on a digital toolkit and resources for students, parents and educators was presented as an example of how behavioural science can support national tobacco control efforts.
