19th July 2025
We’re thrilled to announce that our intern, Anna Yayloyan, has been selected as one of the prestigious iCARE Study Scholars for 2025, a competitive scholarship sponsored by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Montreal Behavioural Medicine Centre. Only a few international scholars are chosen each year, making this a significant achievement!
✨ What is iCARE?
iCARE (International COVID-19 Awareness and Responses Evaluation) is a global research initiative led by the Montreal Behavioural Medicine Centre. It explores psychological and behavioural responses to COVID-19, including vaccine attitudes, public health compliance, and mental health impacts across multiple countries. The BSiH Lab and Dr Angelos Kassianos have been collaborators and contributors to the project since its initiation. The iCARE Scholar award supports emerging researchers in analysing iCARE data under expert mentorship
🎯 Anna’s iCARE Project
Anna’s iCARE project is mentored by iCARE collaborator Dr Angelos Kassianos at BSiH Lab at the Cyprus University of Technology. In her awarded project, “Determinants of COVID‑19 Vaccine Hesitancy Among Pregnant Women: Evidence from the iCARE Study”, Anna is examining a crucial public health challenge. By using iCARE’s international dataset, she’s investigating which psychosocial, demographic, and informational factors influence vaccine hesitancy during pregnancy. Her work aims to inform tailored interventions that support expectant mothers and improve maternal–child health.
🏆 Why This Scholarship Matters
Competitive Recognition: iCARE selects only a small number of international scholars each year, showcasing Anna’s outstanding potential. For 2025, Anna’s award is one of four funded internationally and the only one based in Europe!
Mentorship & Collaboration: Guided by BSiH Lab director Dr. Angelos Kassianos, Anna will receive expert mentoring and connect with a global research network.
Real-World Impact: Her findings have the potential to shape public health policies and reduce vaccine hesitancy in vulnerable populations.
